The Healing Power of Art, Connection, and a Journey Forward: A Tribute to Copper

As someone who has faced complex mental health challenges, including C-PTSD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and ASD, life often feels like a balancing act. Art has always been my refuge, a space where I can express the emotions I struggle to convey. But recently, the unexpected loss of our beloved rescue dog, Copper, has brought a wave of grief that has shaken me deeply. This post isn’t just about Copper, though. It’s about finding a way forward—both for myself and my family—and inviting you to join me on a new journey.

Losing Copper has been incredibly difficult for all of us. He wasn’t just a pet; he was a constant presence of comfort, especially during some of my darkest times. He provided companionship that my mind and spirit craved when I felt most alone. His absence has left a void, but it has also reminded me of the importance of finding new ways to heal and reconnect with myself.

We did have insurance for Copper, but it maxed out within two days, forcing us to rely on credit cards to cover the cost of trying to save him. Admitting that we needed financial help was a hard step to take, and we’re incredibly grateful for the kindness we’ve received from those willing to support us during this time. If Copper’s story touches your heart and you’d like to contribute to our fundraiser, here’s the link: https://gofund.me/909ee7c7. Every little bit helps, and we truly appreciate your generosity.

While raising awareness for our fundraiser is part of why I’m writing this, there’s another purpose. I want to announce a new chapter for Sunflower Artistry and myself. As I navigate the loss of Copper and the changes in my life, I’ve realised I need to take deliberate steps toward reconnecting spiritually. This isn’t about religion or forcing any beliefs onto anyone; it’s about finding inner peace, balance, and healing. It’s about being in tune with the energy around me—something that has always drawn me to art in the first place.

To help me move forward, I’m committing to a new weekly blog. This blog will document my journey as I take small, intentional steps to reconnect with myself spiritually, artistically, and emotionally. For anyone interested in energy, connection, and art, this may be something you find worth following. I’m not here to preach or tell anyone how to live; I’m just sharing my personal path toward healing. It’s going to be raw, honest, and vulnerable, but also a way to hold myself accountable as I explore what it means to truly move forward.

If you’ve ever felt disconnected, lost, or overwhelmed by life’s challenges, you might find something relatable in this journey. Art will continue to be a central part of it—it’s my lifeline, after all—and I’ll be exploring how creativity and spiritual connection can bring us back to ourselves.

This blog is not about perfection or having all the answers. It’s about taking steps—one at a time—to rebuild, to heal, and to find new purpose. I hope you’ll join me, whether you’re curious about art, energy, or simply navigating life’s ups and downs. Together, we can find light in the darkest moments and build a stronger, more connected future.

Thank you for reading, for supporting, and for being part of this journey. Let’s move forward—one step, one breath, one stroke of paint at a time.

With love and gratitude,

Sarah-Marie

All your followers are here for you on your journey. As you know I have had incredible struggles with alcohol which resulted in me going to rehab just over 2 years ago. Since then I have learned to love myself and realise that I’m not a bad person and finding Art has been a huge part of my recovery. We will all help each other.

Much love,
